§ 37-2-414 — Kinship Foster Care Program

(a)As used in this section, unless the context otherwise requires:
(1)"Department" means the department of children's services; and (2) "Foster parent" means any person with whom a child in the care, custody or guardianship of the department is placed for temporary or long-term care, but shall not include any persons with whom a child is placed for the purpose of adoption.
(b)(1) There is established a "Kinship Foster Care Program" in the department.
(2)When a child has been removed from such child's home and is in the care, custody or guardianship of the department, the department shall attempt to place the child with a relative for kinship foster care. The department shall prioritize efforts to locate an appropriate kinship foster care placement for the child for at least thirty (30)
