§ 2A:168-29 — The State Council.

4. Article IV. The State Council. a. There is hereby established the New Jersey State Council for Interstate Adult Offender Supervision which shall consist of the following members: (1) two members of the General Assembly, no more than one of whom shall be of the same political party, appointed by the Speaker of the General Assembly; (2) two members of the Senate, no more than one of whom shall be of the same political party, appointed by the President of the Senate; (3) the Administrative Director of the Courts; (4) the Commissioner of Corrections or his designee; (5) a law enforcement officer and a representative from a crime victim's organization, each appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate; and (6) the Chairman of the State Parole Board. b. The Governor shall appoint a compact administrator who shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor. The compact administrator may be a member of the State Council or a State government official with appropriate background and experience. The compact administrator shall be the compact commissioner and presiding officer of the council and shall serve as the New Jersey Commissioner to the Interstate Commission. c. Members of the Council shall be appointed for terms of four years and the terms of their successors shall be calculated from the expiration of the incumbent's term. Members shall serve until their successors are appointed and have qualified. d. The State Council shall meet at least twice a year. e. The State Council shall develop policies concerning the operation of the compact within this State. The State Council may adopt rules, including rules proposed by the commission for adoption by this state, to implement the compact. f. The State Council shall report annually to the Legislature concerning the activities of the council and the Interstate Commission. L.2002,c.111,s.4.
