§ 59-e. Deed or release of land so acquired to United States. The\ngovernor may, if requested by any officer or agent of the United States\nduly authorized under the hand and seal of any head of an executive\ndepartment of the government of the United States, execute a deed or\nrelease to the government of the United States of the lands and the\nstructures and waters thereon, described in the survey and map filed in\nthe office of the secretary of state as hereinbefore provided, excepting\nand reserving therefrom an easement for public highway purposes in and\nover the lands acquired for highway purposes pursuant to this article.\nSuch deed or release may be so executed at any time after the commission\nshall have entered upon and taken possession of such lands, structures\nand waters. Such deed or release shall be in the form agreed upon by the\ngovernor and the proper representative of the government of the United\nStates and shall convey title to the lands, structures and waters\ndescribed therein to the government of the United States, to be used for\npurposes of public defense and shall cede to the United States the\njurisdiction over the tracts or parcels of land so described, to the\nextent and in the manner hereinafter provided. Such deed or release\nshall be executed in duplicate in the name of the state and under its\ngreat seal. One of such duplicates shall be filed and recorded in the\noffice of the secretary of state of the state of New York, and the other\nshall be delivered to the proper executive department of the government\nof the United States.\n
