thence south 70Á\n07' 26" east 6,424 feet toward a point marked No. 3 on said map until\nsaid line intersects the westerly boundary of Rhode Island at a point\n(No. 174) in latitude 41Á 18' 16" .249 and longitude 71Á 54' 28" .477 as\ndetermined by the joint commissioners of Connecticut and Rhode Island by\na memorandum of agreement dated March twenty-fifth, eighteen hundred and\neighty-seven.\n The geodetic positions given in this description are based on Clark's\nspheroid of eighteen hundred and sixty-six and the astronomical data\nadopted by the United States coast and geodetic survey in eighteen\nhundred and eighty and are computed from data given in appendix number\neight to the report of the said survey for eighteen hundred and\neighty-eight, entitled "Geographical Positions in the State of\nConnecticut."\n The boundary line hereinbefore described and determined which has been\nlocated and defined as, and in the manner, provided by section eight of\nthis chapter is fully and accurately laid down on duplicate maps, one\ncopy of which has been deposited with the secretary of state of the\nstate of New York and the other copy thereof with the secretary of state\nof the state of Connecticut.\n Nothing herein contained shall be construed to affect any existing\ntitles to property, corporeal or incorporeal, held under grants\nheretofore made by either of said states, nor to affect existing rights\nwhich said states or either of them or which the citizens of either of\nsaid states may have by grant, letters-patent or prescription of fishing\nin the waters of said sound, whether for shell or floating fish\nirrespective of the boundary line hereby established, it not being the\npurpose hereof to define, limit or interfere with any such right, rights\nor privileges whatever the same may be.\n The governor is authorized and requested to transmit a copy of this\nact to the governor of the state of Connecticut, and upon receiving\nacknowledgment of its receipt by the state of Connecticut the governor\nof this state shall cause such acknowledgment to be filed in the office\nof the secretary of state.\n The governor of this state is authorized in concurrence with the\ngovernor of the state of Connecticut to communicate to congress the\naction of the two states on this subject and to request the approval of\ncongress of the boundaries thus established and monumented.\n
