§ 27-0509 — Technical assistance

§ 27-0509. Technical assistance.\n The commissioner shall prepare and distribute to municipalities, and\nmay distribute to other persons, upon request, information relevant to\nthe source separation of solid waste. The commissioner shall provide\nconsultations to assist in the development of programs under this\nsection. Such technical assistance program shall include, but not be\nlimited to:\n 1. classification of recyclable materials;\n 2. techniques for home sorting of solid waste;\n 3. collection systems for separated materials which promote the\nefficiency of resource recovery facilities;\n 4. use of compartmentalized sanitation vehicles to maintain collected\nmaterials in an uncontaminated condition;\n 5. identification of appropriate marketing specifications and markets\nto assist persons who engage in preparing recovered materials for\nmarket;\n 6. education and public information programs which include source\nreduction and the relationship between solid waste and energy;\n 7. projections of probable changes in the waste stream due to changes\nin population, industry and employment in the municipality;\n 8. model local law or ordinance to implement source separation; and\n 9. other relevant information for solid waste management.\n
