5.Duration and renewal. Registration of a mark with the Secretary of State shall be effective for a term of five years from the date of registration and, upon application filed within six months prior to the expiration of the term, in a manner complying with the requirements of the Secretary of State, the registration may be renewed for a like term from the end of the expiring term. A renewal fee in an amount established by and payable to the Secretary of State, shall accompany the application for renewal of the registration. A mark registration may be renewed for successive periods of five years in like manner. Any registration in force on the effective date of P.L.1995, c.171 (C.56:3-13.1a et al.) shall continue in full force and effect for the unexpired term of the registration, and ma
