§ 26:2D-4 — Commissioners' terms

Commissioners appointed by the Governor shall be appointed for a term of four years commencing on July 1 of the year of appointment, except that of those first appointed, two shall be appointed for terms of one year, one for a term of two years, one for a term of three years, and one for a term of four years, which terms shall commence on July 1, 1958. Of the two commissioners first appointed to the commission pursuant to the provisions of this 1986 amendatory act, one commissioner shall serve a term of four years and one commissioner shall serve a term of two years. Each commissioner shall hold over after the expiration of his term until his successor has been appointed and has qualified. Vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired terms only in the manner provided for the original appointments. L. 1958, c. 116, p. 593, s. 4. Amended by L. 1986, c. 28, s. 3, eff. June 17, 1986.
