a.The department is hereby authorized, empowered, and directed to establish a State trails system of recreation trails, scenic trails and connecting or side trails in the State composed of (1) the Appalachian trail, and (2) such other trails that are established or designated from time to time by the department under the provisions of this act.
b.The department, in consultation with appropriate Federal, State, and local governmental agencies and public and private organizations, shall establish a uniform marker for the trails system, and shall coordinate the trails system with the National trails system established under applicable provisions of Federal law. L.1974, c. 159, s. 5, eff. Nov. 14, 1974.
