Lands to which title has been acquired by the state, or which have been leased, or any part thereof, may be used for the purpose of creating and maintaining game refuges, or for fish and game department uses for the protection, regulation and management of wildlife resources, implementation of department programs, and as much thereof as is deemed necessary may be used for the administration of such lands. The executive director of the fish and game department, after consultation with the director, division of forests and lands, department of natural and cultural resources, may cut and remove and sell, or permit the cutting or removing and selling of timber, on lands to which title has been acquired by the state.
