Subdivision 1.General. The department is under the administrative control of the commissioner. The commissioner is appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the senate. The commissioner has the general powers provided in section15.06, subdivision 6. The commissioner's salary must be determined by the Compensation Council under section15A.082, in the same range as specified for the commissioner of management and budget. Subd. 2.Duties of the commissioner.

(a)The commissioner may apply for and accept on behalf of the state any grants, bequests, gifts, or contributions for the purpose of carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the commissioner.
