5. Except as provided in section 2 of this chapter, a physician licensed under IC 25-22.5 is immune from civil liability resulting from an act or omission related to the provision of medical direction concerning emergency medical services (as defined in IC 16-18-2-110) within the scope of the physician's license, if the physician provides medical direction concerning emergency medical services:

(1)to a person who is certified under IC 16-31 to provide the emergency medical services; and
(2)without compensation.
