Text
A fine for the conviction of a felony shall, unless the section of the general statutes that defines or provides the penalty for the crime specifically provides otherwise, be fixed by the court as follows:
(1)For a class A felony, an amount not to exceed twenty thousand dollars;
(2)for a class B felony, an amount not to exceed fifteen thousand dollars;
(3)for a class C felony, an amount not to exceed ten thousand dollars;
(4)for a class D felony, an amount not to exceed five thousand dollars;
(5)for a class E felony, an amount not to exceed three thousand five hundred dollars; and (6) for an unclassified felony, an amount in accordance with the fine specified in the section of the general statutes that defines or provides the penalty for the crime. See Sec. 53a-35a re terms of impriso

P.A. 92-11 changed effective date of P.A. 92-256 but did not affect the date applicable to this section; P.A. 13-258 added “unless the section of the general statutes that defines or provides the penalty for the crime specifically provides otherwise”, added new Subdiv. (5) re maximum fine for a class E felony, and redesignated existing Subdiv. (5) as Subdiv.
