Text

(a)A person is guilty of abuse in the first degree when such person intentionally commits abuse of an elderly, blind or disabled person or a person with intellectual disability and causes serious physical injury to such elderly, blind or disabled person or person with intellectual disability.
(b)Abuse in the first degree is a class C felony.

(P.A. 03-267, S. 7; P.A. 04-257, S. 89; P.A. 11-129, S. 16.) History: P.A. 04-257 made a technical change in Subsec. (a), effective June 14, 2004; P.A. 11-129 amended Subsec. (a) to substitute “person with intellectual disability” for “mentally retarded person” and make conforming changes.
