(a)Each full-time permanent employee in the state service shall be granted time off with pay for any legal holiday. A general worker employed in a position by the Department of Developmental Services as a self-advocate shall be granted time off with pay for any legal holiday that falls on a day that the general worker is regularly scheduled to work, provided the pay shall be for the number of hours the general worker would have been scheduled to work. If a legal holiday falls on a Saturday, each such full-time permanent employee and general worker shall be granted equivalent time off on the Friday immediately preceding such Saturday or given another day off in lieu thereof. The Commissioner of Administrative Services may adopt regulations, in accordance with the provisions of chapter 54,

History: P.A. 77-614 replaced personnel policy board with commissioner of administrative services and required that regulations be approved by secretary of the office of policy and management; P.A. 12-197 amended Subsec. (a) by adding provision re general workers employed by Department of Developmental Services, effective June 15, 2012; P.A. 24-122 amended Subsec. (a) by deleting provision limiting number of self-advocates employed by Department of Developmental Services to not more than 11, deleting provision requiring regulations be approved by Secretary of the Office of Policy and Management and making technical changes, effective June 5, 2024. Subsec. (a): Legislature's use of terms “day” and “holiday” reflects its intent that employees shall be compensated for leave commensurate with their scheduled hours during the calendar day. 267 C. 255.
