§ 15-4-201 — Council officers; election; duties; compensation
(a)The council, at the first meeting after the first
election under this article and at the first meeting after each
regular election thereafter, shall elect from their number a
president of the council to be the mayor and a vice president of
the council. During the absence or disability of the mayor, the
vice president shall perform the duties of the mayor. In the
absence or disability of both, the council shall choose from
their number a president pro tem to perform the duties of the
mayor.
(b)The salary for each councilman, other than the mayor,
shall be not less than ten dollars ($10.00) nor more than one
hundred fifty dollars ($150.00), as the council establishes by
ordinance, for actual attendance at each regular or special
