Text

(1)(1)(a) A person seeking to have a law passed by the Legislature submitted to a vote of the people shall, after filing a referendum application, obtain:
(1)(a)(i) legal signatures equal to 8% of the number of active voters in the state on January 1 immediately following the last regular general election; and
(1)(a)(ii) from at least 15 Senate districts, legal signatures equal to 8% of the number of active voters in that Senate district on January 1 immediately following the last regular general election.
(1)(b) When the lieutenant governor declares that a referendum petition is signed by a sufficient number of voters to meet the requirements of Subsection (1)(a), the governor shall issue an executive order that:
(1)(b)(i) directs that the referendum be submitted to the voters at the nex
