§ 50-7-609 — Assistant or deputy commissioner

(a) The commissioner of labor and workforce development may appoint an assistant or deputy commissioner for the division of employment security, and may delegate to the person so appointed the responsibility and authority in connection with the administration of this chapter, the commissioner may, from time to time, deem necessary, reasonable and proper for the effective and efficient administration of the division, including, but not limited to, the coordination of the unemployment compensation bureau of the division and the Tennessee state employment service. (b) Neither this chapter nor title 8, chapter 30 shall apply to the appointment of the assistant or deputy commissioner provided for in this section, or to the assistant or deputy commissioner's tenure of office, it being the express intent that the assistant or deputy commissioner shall serve in that capacity solely at the will of the commissioner.
