This article may be cited as the "State Grand Jury Act", and any state grand jury which may be convened as provided herein to be known as a "State Grand Jury of South Carolina".

HISTORY: 1987 Act No. 150, SECTION 1, eff from and after February 8, 1989 (the date the amendments to Article I, SECTION 11, and Article V, SECTION 22, of the South Carolina Constitution were ratified and declared to be part of the Constitution); 1992 Act No. 335, SECTION 1, eff May 4, 1992. Editor's Note Laws 1987 Act No. 150, SECTION 3, provides as follows: "Section 3. This act takes effect upon the ratification of amendments to Article 1 and Article V of the Constitution of this State, permitting the establishment of a state grand jury and indictments to be issued by same.". The amendments to Article I, SECTION 11, and Article V, SECTION 22, of the South Carolina Constitution were ratified and declared to be part of the Constitution on February 8, 1989. See 1989 Act No. 5, SECTIONS 1 and 2, 1989 Act No. 7, SECTION 1, and 1989 Act No. 8, SECTION 1.
