§ 45-5-19. Appointment of municipal officer under home rule charter.
Notwithstanding any provision of the general or public laws providing for the appointment
            of a municipal officer by the mayor of a city or the president of a town council,
            if the home rule charter of any city or town adopted pursuant to article XIII of the
            Constitution of Rhode Island provides that an appointment of this officer shall be
            by the city or town council, then the officer's appointment shall be made by the council.
