§ 45-48.1-20. Malicious damage — Civil and criminal penalties.

If any person maliciously or wantonly destroys or damages any hydrant, pipe, aqueduct, conduit, machinery, equipment, appliance, or other property of the district used for the purposes provided for in this chapter, that person, whether principal or accessory, forfeits to the district, to be recovered by an action of trespass on the case, treble the amount of damages which appear to have been sustained, and shall also be liable to indictment, and, upon conviction, shall be fined not more than one hundred dollars ($100) or imprisoned not more than one year, or shall suffer both fine and im
