The boards of education of any city, exempted village, local, or joint vocational school districts or the governing boards of educational service centers may enter into contracts for a term not exceeding one year, upon such terms as each board deems expedient, with each other, or with the trustees or other authorized officials of any college or university, legally organized, for the purpose of obtaining in such school district or educational service center instruction in the special, technical, professional, or other advanced studies which may be pursued in such college or university beyond the scope of the public high school.
