§ 2020 — Definitions

§ 2020. Definitions. As used in this article, the following terms\nshall have the following meanings:\n 1. "ALS" means amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a neurological disorder\nthat affects motor neurons, the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord\nthat control voluntary muscle movement and breathing.\n 2. "MND" means motor neuron disease, a group of progressive\nneurological disorders that destroy motor neurons, the cells that\ncontrol skeletal muscle activity such as walking, breathing, speaking,\nand swallowing. This group includes diseases such as amyotrophic\nlateral sclerosis, progressive bulbar palsy, primary lateral sclerosis,\nprogressive muscular atrophy, spinal muscular atrophy, Kennedy's\ndisease, and post-polio syndrome.\n
