§ 14.03 Definitions. When used in this article, unless a different\nmeaning clearly appears from the context, the terms listed below shall\nhave the following meanings:\n 1. "Historic district" means any area which: (a) has a special\ncharacter or special historical, archeological, architectural, or\ncultural value; or (b) represents one or more periods or styles of\narchitecture typical of one or more eras; and (c) causes such area, by\nreason of such factors, to constitute a distinct section.\n 7. "Municipality" for the purpose of this article only means any\ncounty, city, town or village.\n 8. "Municipal official" means the chief executive officer of any\nmunicipality or his or her designated representative.\n 9. "National register" means the national register of historic places\nauthorized by the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966.\n 10. "Registered property" means any historic place or property within\nthe boundaries of the state nominated by the commissioner for listing on\nthe national register of historic places or listed on the New York state\nregister of historic places established pursuant to section 14.07 of\nthis article.\n 11. "State agency" means any state department, agency, board or\ncommission of the state, or a public benefit corporation or public\nauthority at least one of whose members is appointed by the governor.\n 12. "State register" means the state register of historic places\nestablished pursuant to section 14.07 of this article.\n
