§ 30-d. Seal of Albany county and of the county clerk and the supreme\ncourt.

The county of Albany, the county clerk of said county and the\nsupreme court therein, shall have and use the following seal:\n ______________________________________________________________\n 1 |\n 2 |\n 3 COPY OF Seal of Albany county |\n 4 MAY BE OBTAINED FROM: |\n 5 NYS LEGISLATIVE BILL DRAFTING COMMISSION |\n 6 CONTACT: LEGISLATIVE RETRIEVAL SYSTEM'S HELPLINE |\n 7 |\n 8 |\n 9____________________________________________________________|\n Description of Seal\nThe Seal shall consist of two concentric circles; the upper part of the\nspace between such circles shall be inscribed with the words in capital\nblock letters "SEAL OF THE COUNTY OF ALBANY," the lower part shall be\ninscribed in capital block letters the year "1683", and inside the inner\ncircle such Seal shall bear the following: a depiction in outline form\nof Henry Hudson's ship "Half Moon," encircled by leaves and berries of a\nholly plant, joined by ribbon at bottom. Said flora shall represent the\ncounty's natural heritage, while said ship shall represent the historic\nnature of the county as the northernmost point of Hudson's voyage up the\ngreat river now bearing his name and defining the county's eastern\nborder. Said year of 1683 represents the year of creation of the County\nof Albany.\n 2. The county clerk of Albany county shall cause the design of said\nseal (in black and white) to be engraved upon metal. From time to time\nhe or she shall obtain and make available, and keep in good order and\nrepair as many of such engraved metal seals as may be necessary for the\nproper performance of the duties of the office and of the duties of the\nclerks and officers in the supreme court authorized to use said seal.\nAll the expense incurred by the county clerk incident to said seal shall\nbe a county charge against the county of Albany.\n 3. Such seal shall be used and affixed only: (a) by the county clerk\nof Albany county or by any deputy or clerk duly authorized by him; (b)\nby any justice of the supreme court resident in Albany county, or by any\nclerk or officer duly authorized by said justice; and (c) the County\nExecutive or other person authorized by law to execute official\ndocuments on behalf of the county.\n 4. The use of said seal or of any replica or simulation thereof, in\nform or substance, by any unauthorized person or for any wrongful\npurpose, is prohibited. Any violation of this prohibition shall be\ndeemed to be a misdemeanor and punishable as such.\n
