§ 224. Compensation of judges on temporary assignment. Every\nstate-paid judge or justice of the unified court system who is assigned\nfrom the court to which he or she was elected or appointed to another\ncourt or who is assigned to perform judicial duties at a location\noutside the county of his or her residence or, in the case of a judge or\njustice residing in the city of New York, outside such city, shall,\nduring the time of such assignment, receive either the compensation to\nwhich he or she is entitled in the court to which he or she was elected\nor appointed, or the compensation received by a judge or justice in the\ncourt or location to which he or she is assigned, whichever is higher.\n
