§ 165. Power of supreme court justices in Nassau county to appoint law\nstenographers and typists. The justice or justices of the supreme court\nresiding in Nassau county, or a majority of them, may appoint and at\npleasure remove and prescribe the duties of twenty law stenographers and\ntypists, who shall receive such compensation as may be fixed by the\nboard of supervisors of such county. Such compensation shall be a charge\nagainst such county and shall be paid by the treasurer thereof in\nbi-weekly installments upon the certificate of such justice or justices,\nor a majority of them.\n
