§ 657. Proceeding when person under sentence of death is pregnant. 1.\nA sentence of death may not be carried out upon a woman while she is\npregnant.\n 2. When the superintendent of the correctional facility where the\ninmate is confined is informed that reasonable grounds exist that a\nconvicted person under sentence of death may be pregnant, the\nsuperintendent shall appoint a qualified physician to examine the\nconvicted person and determine if she is pregnant.\n 3. Upon being informed by the superintendent that such convicted\nperson is pregnant, the governor shall stay execution of the warrant to\nthe extent necessary.\n
