Every utility organized and existing for the purpose of supplying electricity for light, heat or power may exercise the power of eminent domain as provided in sections 48 and 49 hereof in taking or acquiring any land or interest therein which may be reasonably necessary for a right-of-way for the transmission and distribution of electricity to the public. No posts or poles, towers or other structures shall be erected by virtue of the authority given by this chapter in any road, street, or highway, without first obtaining a designation of the location thereof by the governing body, official or commission, having control of the road, street, or highway in which the lands to be condemned shall be located, and such posts or poles, towers or other structures shall be subject to such reasonable
