39:5-2. The director shall have the same powers as are conferred by this subtitle on a magistrate. In considering violations of this subtitle, the director may hold court in any municipality in the State, upon five days' notice given to the defendants summoned to appear before him and shall conduct the proceedings in compliance with, insofar as they are applicable, the rules of the Supreme Court governing municipal courts. The fees and costs shall be the same as in a municipal court. Appeals from a court held by the director shall, in the manner provided for an appeal from a municipal court, be taken to the Superior Court. Amended 1939,c.216,s.1; 1953,c.36,s.5; 1991,c.91,s.371.
