The commissioner is authorized to institute a civil action in a court of competent jurisdiction for injunctive relief to enjoin the operation of a child care center whenever the commissioner determines that: a. There is an imminent danger or hazard that threatens the health and safety of children in the center; b. The center or its sponsor has repeatedly violated the provisions of this act; or c. A child care center has opened or is operating without a license or without complying with the provisions of this act. The commissioner may, in addition, request such other relief as is deemed necessary. In any such action the court may proceed in a summary manner. L.1983, c. 492, s. 11.
