Text

The head and chief executive officer of the department shall be a commissioner, who shall be known as the Commissioner of Corrections. The commissioner shall be appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate, and shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor during the Governor's term of office and until the appointment and qualification of his successor. The commissioner shall receive such salary as shall be provided by law. He shall devote his entire time to the performance of his duties. L.1976, c. 98, s. 4, eff. Nov. 1, 1976.
