a.Where it is determined that a strip search or body cavity search is necessary, it shall be performed under sanitary conditions. A body cavity search, pursuant to section 2 of this act, shall be conducted by a licensed physician or registered professional nurse.
b.A physician or nurse who conducts a body cavity search pursuant to the requirements of this act and in a medically accepted manner shall be immune from civil or criminal liability for so acting, provided the skill and care given are those ordinarily required and exercised by others in the profession.
