The State Highway Commissioner may designate as freeways, in accordance with chapter 83, Public Laws of 1945, routes in the State approved by the United States Department of Commerce, Bureau of Public Roads, as a part of the interstate highway system in the National System of Interstate Highways, dated September 15, 1955. L.1956, c. 153, p. 623, s. 1.
