a.Unless the named insured selects a lower deductible amount, every private passenger automobile insurance policy providing collision and comprehensive coverages, issued or renewed on or after the effective date of this act, shall provide a deductible in a minimum amount of $500.00 each for collision and comprehensive coverages, except for policies issued on or after the effective date of this section, that deductible amount shall be $750 each for collision and comprehensive coverages. The minimum deductible established by this subsection shall apply to all policies providing collision and comprehensive coverages unless the named insured provides otherwise in writing on a form approved by the commissioner.
