50-63-202 . Fire chief or sheriff to conduct investigation. If the fire occurs within a municipality, organized fire district, or fire service area, the chief of the governmental fire agency organized under Title 7, chapter 33, having jurisdiction or the chief's designee shall conduct the investigation. If the fire occurs outside a municipality, organized fire district, or fire service area, the county sheriff shall conduct the investigation or ensure that an investigation is conducted.
