Subdivision 1.Entitlement.

(a)A survivor of a deceased active member of the plan or a deceased deferred member of the plan, upon application as prescribed by the executive director, is entitled to receive a survivor benefit.
(b)A survivor is the spouse of the member, or if none, the minor child or children of the member, or if none, the estate of the member. Subd. 2.Lump-sum division; survivor benefit amount. The amount of the survivor benefit for the lump-sum division is the amount of the retirement benefit that would have been payable to the member of the lump-sum division on the date of death if the member had been age 50 or older on that date.
