(a)Annually, the executive director must credit each volunteer firefighter with a year of service credit for vesting for each year of service credited for benefit accrual or contribution allocation under section353G.07.
(b)A volunteer firefighter is entitled to receive service credit toward vesting in the retirement plan for any period of service as a volunteer firefighter, as defined under section353G.01, subdivision 15, rendered as a firefighter in a fire department in the state that was not covered by the retirement plan at the time the service was rendered if the firefighter submits a request to the executive director indicating the number of years and months of service for which credit is requested and provides documentation in a form acceptable to the executive director regarding t
