Subdivision 1.Chief board administrator; duties. In all negotiations between the state Board of Public Defense and exclusive representatives, the board must be represented by the chief administrator of the board or the chief administrator's designee. Each appointing authority shall cooperate with the chief administrator in conducting negotiations and shall make available any personnel and other resources necessary to enable the chief administrator to conduct effective negotiations. For purposes of this subdivision, "appointing authority" means the state public defender, the deputy state public defender, or the chief public defender of the judicial district, as appropriate.
