The work of the commission shall be to sustain and promote all forms of artistic activity in and of the state of Louisiana; to remind and inform the citizens of the state of the unique creative efforts of Louisiana artists, both those which have flourished in Louisiana in the past and those which adorn our civilization in the present day. It may do this by exhibiting the outstanding works of Louisiana artists and craftsmen and awarding, at its discretion, substantial money prizes and medals for excellence therein. It may bring fructifying agencies, such as lecturers and exhibitions, from outside the state for tours about the state. It may assist in the preservation, maintenance, and restoration and reconstruction of historic buildings and monuments, in Louisiana, by formal and informal rec
