§565. Duty of sheriff The sheriff, as soon as any sentence to imprisonment, without hard labor, or to imprisonment without hard labor in default of the payment of fine and costs, shall have become final, shall, unless the governor shall have reprieved the person convicted, proceed forthwith to the execution of said sentence.
