Text
The provisions of this act shall not apply to any city unless and until the governing body of such city shall submit the question of establishing pension funds under the provisions of this act to the vote of the qualified electors of the city at a regular city election and a majority of those voting thereon shall cast their votes in the affirmative: Provided, That if a petition signed by not less than ten percent of the qualified electors of said city as shown by the vote for mayor at the last city election is filed with the city clerk the governing body shall be required to submit the question of establishing pension funds under the provisions of this act to a vote at the next regular city election: Provided further, That any such city now operating under a retirement and benefit system,
