Text
Every new officer and member of such police and fire departments shall be required to pay to the treasurer of such board a membership fee of $5. There shall be deducted from the salary of every officer and member of each department an amount equal to 7% of such officer's or member's monthly salary, which shall be paid into the respective pension funds. Any officer or member, whose services, for any reason whatsoever, are terminated with the department shall be entitled, upon demand, to be paid within 30 days after such demand, the total amount of the deduction from such officer's or member's salary paid into such fund, less 50% thereof.
