§ 36-8-8-21 — 1977 fund members; age limitation; aptitude, physical agility, and physical and mental standards; credit for prior service

(a)This section applies to:
(1)police officers and firefighters who are employed by units that become participants in the 1977 fund under section 3(c) of this chapter;
(2)police officers and firefighters who are employed by an airport authority that becomes a participant in the 1977 fund under section 3(e) of this chapter; or
(3)firefighters who become members of the 1977 fund under section 7(g) of this chapter.
(b)A police officer or firefighter may become a member of the 1977 fund without meeting the age limitation under section 7(a) of this chapter if the police officer or firefighter satisfies:
(1)any aptitude, physical agility, or physical and mental standards established by a local board under IC 36-8-3.2; and
(2)the minimum standards that are:
(A)adopted by the system board
