(a)If a proposal is approved under section 8 of this chapter, following the approval of the proposal, the Lake County convention center authority is established for the purpose of holding an equal share of ownership of the Lake County convention and event center with the entity whose proposal is approved and for providing general oversight of the upkeep, improvements, and management team as outlined in the accepted proposal. Subject to subsection (e), the convention center authority consists of seven (7) members, appointed as follows:

(1)Three (3) members appointed by the entity whose proposal is approved under section 8 of this chapter.

(2)Three (3) members appointed by the Lake County board of commissioners.

(a) If a proposal is approved under section 8
of this chapter, following the approval of the proposal, the Lake County
convention center authority is established for the purpose of holding an

Individuals appointed to the convention center authority must have
professional experience in commercial facility management.
(b) The term of office for a member of the board is two (2) years.
The term begins July 1 of the year in which the member is appointed
and ends on June 30 of the second year following the member's
appointment. A member may be reappointed after the member's term
has expired.
(c) A vacancy in membership must be filled in the same manner as
the original appointment. Appointments made to fill a vacancy that
occurs before the expiration of a term are for the remainder of the
unexpired term.
(d) The member appointed under subsection (a)(3) shall serve as the
chairperson of the convention center authority. The convention center
authority shall meet at the call of the chairperson.
(e) An individual may not be appointed to the convention center
authority if the individual is a party to a contract or agreement with the
entity whose proposal is approved, is employed by the entity whose
proposal is approved, or otherwise has a direct or indirect financial
interest in the entity whose proposal is approved under this chapter.
