(a)AREA─METRO. As an additional means of insuring the enforcement of a zoning or subdivision ordinance, a legislative body may adopt, as a part of either ordinance or by separate ordinance, provisions requiring building contractors to furnish an annual bond of one thousand dollars ($1,000). This bond is to insure that if the construction does not comply with the zoning or subdivision ordinance that it can be made to conform without cost to the municipality, the county, or the person for whom the construction was undertaken.
(b)METRO. An ordinance under subsection (a) may also require professional engineers and land surveyors to furnish an annual bond of one thousand dollars ($1,000) to insure that their plans and surveys conform to the zoning or subdivision ordinance.
