Text

(a)Each citizen member shall be appointed because of the member's knowledge and experience in community affairs, the member's awareness of the social, economic, agricultural, and industrial problems of the area, and the member's interest in the development and integration of the area.
(b)A citizen member may not hold:
(1)an elected office (as defined in IC 3-5-2.1-34); or
(2)any other appointed office in municipal, county, or state government; except for membership on the board of zoning appeals as required by section 902 of this chapter and, in the case of an area plan commission, membership on the body from which the member must be appointed under this series.
(c)Subject to subsection (d), a citizen member must meet one (1) of the following requirements:
