§ 36-4-6-8 — President; vice president; president pro tempore
(a)This subsection applies only to second class
cities. At its first regular meeting under section 7 of this chapter, and
each succeeding January, the legislative body shall choose from its
members a president and a vice president.
(b)This subsection applies only to third class cities. The city
executive shall preside at all meetings of the legislative body, but may
vote only in order to break a tie. At its first regular meeting under
section 7 of this chapter and each succeeding January, the legislative
body shall choose from its members a president pro tempore to preside
whenever the executive is absent.
