Text

(a)A request to a municipality to extend park and recreation service to the unincorporated area of a township in which the municipality is located or in a township adjacent to the township in which the municipality is located may be made by at least the number of registered voters required under IC 3-8-6-3 to place a candidate on the ballot in that area or township and who reside in that area or township, unless the area is already located within another park district.
(b)The request must be made by petition to the board of the municipality and must:
(1)state the reasons for the need of service;
(2)specify the unincorporated area or township to be served; and
