§ 30-35 — Board name; status; headquarters

(a) The board of trustees of each district shall be a body politic and corporate, by the name of "The Board of Library Trustees of the .... Public Library District, ...., Illinois", and in that name may enact ordinances and hold title to property, may sue and be sued in all courts and places where judicial proceedings are had, and may take any action authorized by law. (b) At any time after the establishment of a district, the board of the district may enact an ordinance changing the district's name in the form given in this Section. The change of name shall be effective with the beginning of the next ensuing fiscal year following the date of the ordinance's enactment. All assets, liabilities, and other obligations of the district under its former name and all ordinances and other official acts of the district under its former name shall automatically become those of the district under its new name. The board of the district shall file a certified copy of the ordinance changing the district's name with the recorder of deeds, the county clerk, and the county treasurer of each county in which the district in whole or in part is located. (c) The board shall establish an official mailing address to be used for all notices.
