Illinois·Topic RIGHTS AND REMEDIES·Ch. 720 CRIMINAL OFFENSES·Act 720 ILCS 145/ Telecommunication Line Tapping Act.
Any person who shall within this state wrongfully tap or connect a wire with the telegraph or telephone wires of any person, company or association engaged in the transmission of news or telegraph or telephone lines between the states or in this state for the purpose of wrongfully taking or making use of the news dispatches of such person, company or association, or of its customers, shall be deemed guilty of a Class A misdemeanor.
